The Science Partner Journal BioDesign Research is now considering submissions for its first special issue: Plant BioDesign Hub.
Scope
As a follow-up to the article "Plant Biosystems Design Research Roadmap 1.0", this special issue aims to establish an advanced, forward-thinking platform for international collaboration on plant biodesign research. The special issue will summarize current knowledge for plant biodesign, enable design–build–test–learn tools driven by artificial intelligence (AI), and explore the potential of automation for plant biodesign, presented as three themes within the issue:
Theme 1: Biological Parts for Plant Biodesign
Theme 2: AI-Based Learning for Plant Biodesign
Theme 3: Automation for Plant Biodesign
The articles published in the Plant BioDesign Hub special issue will also be highlighted at the annual International BioDesign Research Conference. The 1st International BioDesign Research Conference was held virtually in December 2020; this successful conference attracted nearly 8,000 registrants and featured more than 60 world-renowned experts. The 2nd International BioDesign Research Conference is tentatively scheduled to be held in-person and virtually in October 2021.
Submission Deadline
Submission deadlines vary based on theme:
Theme 1: Biological Parts for Plant Biodesign –– Deadline: Aug. 31, 2021
Theme 2: AI-Based Learning for Plant Biodesign –– Deadline: Mar. 31, 2022
Theme 3: Automation for Plant Biodesign –– Deadline: Mar. 31, 2023
Submission Instructions
Please indicate in your cover letter that your submission is intended for inclusion in the Plant BioDesign Hub special issue, ensuring to also indicate the theme of your submission (Biological Parts for Plant Biodesign, AI-Based Learning for Plant Biodesign, or Automation for Plant Biodesign).
